The Experience

Your tour will start at the door of your hotel where you will meet with your guide to begin a journey through the capital's history. You will pass through the downtown area, known as Baixa, where you will learn about the devastating earthquake of 1755 and how it changed the city's face forever. You will see Rossio, the heart of the city center, before climbing one of the hills to reach Graça, where you can enjoy breathtaking views over the city and the Tagus River.

You will then have the opportunity to explore the most authentic neighborhood of Lisbon: Alfama. After a stop at Largo Chafariz de Dentro, home to the Fado Museum, you will walk through some of its labyrinthine alleys and feel like you are suddenly in a small village, far from the big city's bustle.

The journey continues toward Belém. Here, you will visit the impressive Jerónimos Monastery, a 16th-century construction that was once home to the monks of the Order of St. Jerome and now serves as the final resting place for Kings, Queens, the navigator Vasco da Gama, and the poet Luís de Camões. Near the Monastery, you will have the pleasure of savoring a delicious and original Pastel de Belém at the famous historical pastry shop.

Before returning to your hotel, you will visit the Belém Tower, an iconic fortress built in the 16th century over the river waters to protect the city.
