Guadiana Valley by E-Bike: Between History and Wild Nature

Come and ride with Lisboa Autêntica in the magnificent Guadiana Valley Natural Park. Explore a region where time seems to slow down, amidst undulating plains of cork and holm oak forests, Mediterranean scrubland, and mountain ranges offering unforgettable panoramic views.

This protected area is a sanctuary of biodiversity, essential for the conservation of the Iberian Lynx and rare birds such as the Great Bustard and the Bonelli's Eagle. Along the way, we will discover Neolithic remains, ancient water mills, and the Roman and Moorish heritage of the "museum village" of Mértola.

• Guadiana Great Route (GR15): 65 km of pure pleasure following the course of the Great Southern River.

• Mértola: Spend the night in one of the most historic and charming villages in Portugal.

Itinerary Program

• Day 1: Arrival in Mértola

  • Departure from Lisbon towards the Alentejo region.

  • Accommodation: Hotel Beira Rio or similar, in Mértola.

• Day 2: The Guadiana Great Route (65 km)

  • Transfer to Alcoutim to start the journey.

  • An epic e-bike ride along the GR15 to Vila Real de Santo António, crossing both road and dirt paths.

  • Return to Mértola in our support VAN.

  • Included Group Dinner: Savor regional Alentejo specialties.

• Day 3: Cork Forests, Mines, and Pulo do Lobo

  • E-bike route through holm and cork oak forests (14 km).

  • Visit to the Tapada Grande and the historic S. Domingos Mine complex.

  • VAN tour to the Pulo do Lobo waterfall to observe its unique geological features.

  • Return trip to Lisbon.

• Difficulty Level: Challenging (mixed terrain: road and dirt).

• Conditions: Minimum of 4 participants.

• Meeting Point: Lisbon (Martim Moniz) or directly at the Hotel in Mértola.
