Belém is an essential area of Lisbon for visitors and tourists wishing to discover the city's richest heritage. Here, where the Tagus River meets the Atlantic Ocean, was also the meeting point of various other cultures, as it was from Belém that the first great navigators, such as Vasco da Gama, set sail for the New World.

The Experience

The tour begins at Praça Afonso de Albuquerque, named after the important Portuguese figure in the East during the 16th century. Here you will find the Belém Palace, the current Presidential residence, and the Coach Museum, with entry included in the visit. Next, the next notable attraction on our itinerary will be the Jerónimos Monastery, a beautiful building dedicated to Santa Maria de Belém and proudly classified as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.

A very significant feature of this monastery to be admired is its unique Manueline architectural style and its church. You can visit the church area and admire the beautiful art. Nearby is the emblematic bakery that produces the Pastel de Belém, a well-known shop that holds the oldest secret recipe for "Pasteis de Nata."

The visit proceeds towards the iconic Belém Tower, also classified as a UNESCO heritage site, and continues along the river towards the Wind Rose Square and the Discoveries Monument, built in honor of Portuguese expansion. The tour will end in the gardens of Praça do Império, which stretch over a vast area and offer a relaxing environment for people to gather and enjoy the sun.
